Rabenstadt Flagellant Pilgrims

The flagellant pilgrims of Rabenstadt are men possessed of iron faith and a penance that sometimes borders on insanity. They go barefoot in the streets, their backs marked with welts from lashes as an act of purification. They carry with them a stone grave marker; it symbolizes the heavy weight of their sins that they hope to atone through blood and pain. They chant litanies as they go forward, without any fear, throwing themselves against the enemy as if they were living martyrs.
