The tesseract, also more commonly known as the hyper cube, is what we get when we extend a cube to the 4th dimension. Though we can't visualize the whole thing at once, we can infer its properties based on math as well as by studying the cube in smaller dimensions. For example, a line has 2 corners, a square has 4 corners, and a cube has 8 corners. Thus, the tesseract must have 16 corners.
