This is a section of a dendrite from the apical dendrite field of a CA1 pyramidal cell in the rat hippocampus. This 3D model was made on the program RECONSTRUCT, in which serial section electron microscope photographs are traced to build up a three dimensional model of neural processes with a resolution of 2 nanometers.
